When I list “SEO” as one of my offered services as a digital media consultant in Cambodia, most people get tripped up.

SEO is a buzzword that often throw around amongst those in the marketing and new media crowd, but have you ever wondered what exactly it means? Never fear, today, I’ve decided to break it down for you so that you’ll be able to confidently use this term correctly.

SEO stands for search engine optimization. On the most basic of levels, it refers to a process used to most ideally advance your rankings and search capabilities online. For example, if you’ve written a blog post, you probably want to get the highest chance of readership possible, right? Increasing the odds of someone stumbling across your post on a search engine would be using SEO.
In order to do that for a blog post, you’d want to use a Google-friendly title, use tags and keywords in the CMS or backend system where you submit your posts, use images and photos in your post heading, and have the URL link for your post be short and include keywords.

It sounds a lot more simple when you break it down, right? SEO can get technical, but for most things it just takes a little bit of extra work in the backend to ensure that your content is optimized for consumption. Otherwise, why even bother creating content if no one is going to see it?

Since SEO has many different functions and there are numerous amounts of SEO services you can both offer and purchase, let’s take a closer look at seven SEO-related terms and break them down.

1. Hyperlinking
A hyperlink is simply a link that you insert into text or a post of some sort, in order to give your post credibility, give your readers a resource, or cite your sources to prove validity. Hyperlinks are important to SEO because the more hyperlinks you have in a post, the better optimized it is. Also, linking the right words matters, as hyperlinking words people are more likely to search for, like searching on Google for instance, raises the likelihood that your post will show up high in the search results for that phrase when people search for it.

2. White Label Link
A white label link is a web page that was built by a secondary source and then branded by another company or website as its own. Think of it like outsourcing;
it’s sort of just like hiring someone else to do the backend work for you. Companies do this in order to expand their reach online and also maximize their resources; many organizations don’t have the funding to do this sort of work in-house, since it involves a lot of time, expertise, and expense.

3. Affiliate Marketing
With the popularity of blogs, you’ve probably come across this term before. It refers to an advertising campaign that works in collaboration with an affiliate that uses said person to drive traffic to their website. For example, many beauty companies will use affiliate marketing with beauty vloggers on YouTube in order to give their products maximum exposure.

This is an acronym that stands for search engine result page, which is the resulting page of search results that comes up when a term is searched for. Very simple to understand, but a commonly-used acronym that is good to know.

5. Meta Description
This is something that is often found on the backend of blogs or websites and is a description of a piece of content on a web page. The reason it’s important is that the description is what shows up underneath the title of a search.
Ever come across those sentences that are below the search term? That’s a meta description. If yours is awkward, isn’t clear, or worse, isn’t something you chose, your link is a lot less likely to be clicked.

6. 301 & 404
These are two numerical terms you’ll frequently come across in SEO. 301 refers to a page redirect, which is when a web URL automatically takes the user to another website or page upon entering it or clicking it. 404 refers to an error page, which is what comes up if there is something wrong with your website or there is a problem with it’s functioning.

7. Keyword
Keyword is a keyword in SEO, as almost everything revolves around them. For SEO purposes, a keyword is defined as “an abstraction that we extrapolate from multiple search queries.” So, it’s a word people are searching for on search engines. If you’re marketing a cleaning product, your keywords are going to be identified by when you want your product to come up in people’s searches.

10 Little-Known Ways to See How Much Traffic a Website Gets in Cambodia

You know that the most important thing about a website is not just only content,Traffic is also!! so let me teach you how to grow up your  Traffic !!

When the average person visits a website for the first time, their eyes follow an F-pattern.

When I visit a website for the first time, I look at something else. In less than a second, I have a decent idea of how much traffic that website gets which helps me decide whether or not to stay.

Knowing how much traffic a website gets helps you validate the website’s content and lets you know how much traffic you need to get to see similar results.

Here are ten little-known techniques for figuring out how much traffic someone else’s website gets.

By the way, SEMRush is my favorite tool.

1. Alexa Ranking

The Alexa Ranking isn’t exactly “little-known,” but it is the best-known metric for ranking websites. This is the first thing I look at when I visit a site:

Alexa tracks stats for everyone who has the Alexa toolbar installed on their browser, which accounts for less than 1% of internet users. So it’s not very accurate, but it’ll give you a rough idea of the website’s popularity.

  1. If you use Chrome, install the Alexa Extension.
  2. If you use Firefox, get the Alexa Add-On.

Alexa’s reliability is shaky – some argue that it’s worthless – so it’s important to consider other metrics.

2. SEMRush.com

My favorite tool for website-based keyword research is SEMRush.com. Here’s a screenshot when you search IncomeDiary.com:

Semrush gives you a lot of information on a websites search engine rankings, how much traffic they get for those rankings, competitors, paid advertising, backlinks and so much more.

As you can see from the screenshot above, IncomeDiary ranks 1st for “how to make money from a website,” 4th for “famous entrepreneurs,” and 11th for “business movies.” Those are highly competitive keywords that are collectively searched over 10,000 times per month.

As you go down the list, you can start to estimate how much traffic he gets for each keyword based on the position and search volume.

3. SimilarWeb.com

SimilarWeb is a website traffic checker that’s similar to Alexa, except, it’s got a lot more detail put into it, so it’s more accurate!


ID SimilarWebThe main takeaway is that it gives you a line graph with values for the number of daily unique visitors and the sources. You can see the countries that your traffic comes from, top referring sites, the top destination sites (sites people visit after yours), display ads, audience interests, and up to 10 organic keywords with the free version.

4. Ahrefs.com

Without a doubt, Ahrefs is one of the best tracking tools I have ever used! This software provides such a wealth of website traffic information. You can find out:

  • New, lost and broken backlinks.
  • Domains sending the most traffic to a site.
  • Search engine rankings.
  • How much traffic a search engine ranking is getting a site.
  • Pages from a site getting the most traffic.
  • You can compare website rankings vs competitors.

And so, so much more…

Not only is Ahrefs great for tracking competitor websites, it’s also a huge help when it comes to figuring out how to improve your own sites!

5. AuthorityLabs.com

AuthorityLabs allows you to track your competitors search engine rankings side by side with your own.

Like SemRush, it tells you how high you are ranking and how many people are looking at that search term. A great tool, that seems to be growing in popularity.

6. YouTube or Vimeo Views

If a website has a YouTube or Vimeo video embedded on the homepage, click to “Watch on YouTube.”

If the video is public, both YouTube and Vimeo will show the view counts. Also check the upload date to estimate how many people view it per month.

Just because the homepage Dollar Shave Club video has almost 4 million views doesn’t mean that their site had 4 million views. But it gives you some idea of how much traffic they got in their first month.

7. Blog Post Comments

Another way to gauge the popularity of a blog is to look at how many comments it gets per post.

With my sites, I’ve found that an average of 1 out of every 200 readers leaves a comment. So a post with 20 non-Nicholas comments was viewed about 4,000 times. This changes with every post and every blog, but again, it gives you a general idea.

8. Total Comment Counts

Immediately after you comment on a WordPress blog, your browser redirects you to where your comment will show up. If you look at the URL, you’ll see something that looks like this:

The second half of the URL tells you that you left the 108,656th comment on IncomeDiary.com. This number includes spam comments. Assume that 75-90% of the comments are spam and you can get an idea of how many comments a site has had since day one.

9. Search for Interviews

A large percentage of successful website owners do interviews, talking about how they built their site and what works for them. Often, they will share not only how much traffic they get, but also where it’s coming from.

You can see some examples of bloggers talking about how much traffic they get by looking through some of the interviews we have conducted for IncomeDiary.

In my experience, a lot of people are more open about sharing traffic stats then you would think. You see this not just in interviews but if you peruse through the archived articles on a blog, there’s a good chance you’ll stumble upon a “blog in review” or “traffic report” post. With those stats, you can start to figure out how much traffic the site is getting today.

10. Check “Advertise Here” Pages

By far, the most accurate way to figure out how much traffic a website gets is to go to their Advertising page.

If a blog is trying to sell advertising space, they need to tell you exactly how many unique views and impressions your ad is going to get every month.

If you sell advertising space on BuySellAds, you need to share your monthly unique and monthly impressions.

The Final Word

Unless the owner of the website reveals exactly how much traffic they’re getting, every other figure is a best guess. Most tools are surprisingly inaccurate when it comes to generating stats. They are good, however, for comparing yourself against others.

What is impression

An impression, in the context of online advertising, is a single view of an ad by one individual. Online publishers offer their ad inventory as available impressions and advertisers buy from them in the same terms.

Definition: Impressions are when an advertisement or any other form of digital media renders on a user’s screen. Impressions are not action-based and are merely defined by a user potentially seeing the advertisement, making CPM campaigns ideal for businesses intent on spreading brand awareness.

Impressions In Digital Marketing

Digital marketing has made impression tracking significantly more quantitative than offline advertising. For example, a billboard owner has no concrete way of estimating the number of impressions his platform grants advertisers. Impression-based online campaigns, on the other hand, can measure impressions concretely, and are generally sold in terms of cost-per-thousand (CPM) impressions.

Impression tracking is a common metric for measuring the performance of most types of online marketing campaigns, including:

  • Pay-per-click impressions, measured against actual clicks
  • Number of times a meme appears on social media
  • On-site views of internal calls-to-action
  • Access of graphic materials through third-party sites, such as Pinterest or Google Image Search

Impressions generally come in two forms: served and viewable.

Served Impressions

The current standard for tracking online impressions is based on served content: whenever a marketing-related file is accessed and transmitted that activity counts as an impression. This is extremely easy to track as it relies on pure server data to count the impressions.

Counting impressions based on served content still has the ‘billboard’ problem, in that it’s difficult to tell how much impact the content had without deeper data analysis. Also, in some cases files can be accessed without being viewable by the consumer.

As a result, ecommerce businesses purchasing impression-based advertising such as display ads have urged the adoption of more accurate systems for measuring impressions. The new viewable impressions standard seeks to address this need.

Viewable Impressions

The viewable impressions method uses data gathered from a user’s device to refine the impression count by excluding cases where, in all likelihood, the content was not seen.

Viewable impression tracking can identify user behaviors which prevent ad viewing, including:

  • Ad-blocking software
  • Screen resolutions too small for the ad to appear onscreen.
  • Users scrolling down before the requested ad has loaded.
  • Broken plug-ins preventing content display.
  • Mobile incompatibilities such as desktop-only websites.
  • Minimized browser windows.
  • User movement between different applications.
  • Pages loaded in background tabs then never accessed.
  • Non-user interference, like malware cloaking ads

The benefits of viewable impression tracking are twofold. First, a company receives more accurate information on the number of actual impressions made. Secondly, the data collected is highly actionable and suggests improvements which can ensure greater rates of content delivery.

  • Search Engine Marketing – includes Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM).   • Email Marketing – once you have built a subscriber email list of potential customers who may be interested in your products or services, email marketing is a very effective way to get the message out.   • Social Media Marketing – social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest (just to name a few) are all opportunities for marketing online. How Does Google Remarketing Work?

Google AdWords remarketing is a form of online advertising that enables sites to show targeted ads to users who have already visited their site. Past visitors will see these ads while they are browsing the web, watching YouTube videos or reading news sites, for example—keeping your brand top-of-mind and enticing visitors to come back for more.



Remarketing, also known as retargeting, can dramatically increase your conversion rates and ROI. This is because past site visitors who are already familiar with your brand are much more likely to become customers or complete other valuable actions on your site.


How Does Google Remarketing Work?

If you already advertise on Google, all you need to do is add a piece of Google remarketing code, also known as a tag or pixel, to your website so that visitors can get added to your remarketing audiences through browser cookies. You can customize the code for different pages to correspond to more defined categories.

For example, let’s say you operate an e-commerce business that sells kitchen supples. You might create a “toaster” remarketing audience based on people who visit the pages of your site where you sell toasters. That way, you can show these specific visitors highly targeted display ads that market your toasters. You already know they are in-market for toasters, and now you can draw them back, perhaps with a special offer like “free shipping.”



Using remarketing, you can show Google ads to your previous site visitors while they browse the vast number of Google partner sites in the Google Display Network.

Google recommends that when you are starting your first remarketing campaign, you begin by targeting everyone who viewed your homepage. Just remember, that will increase your Google remarketing costs since your ads are being retargeted to more individuals, and you won’t be able to create ads that are quite as targeted. By targeting more narrowly, you can therefore increase ad relevancy and lower your cost per click.

Eventually, you can create different Google remarketing lists for super-targeted remarketing campaigns; for example, you can choose to show users who have already purchased from your site different ads from non-buyers (such as an offer for 30% off your second purchase).


Why Remarket? The Advantages of Google Ad Retargeting

Google ad retargeting is powerful online marketing technique because it allows you to stay connected with your target audience, even after they leave your site.

By presenting your display remarketing banner ads to visitors even as they browse other parts of the web, you are gaining brand exposure and becoming more recognizable to your target audience, raising trust and making them more likely to purchase from you.

As you can see, previous site visitors will click your ads at 2-3x the rate of new visitors.

Further, the effectiveness of Google remarketing ads only increases with more impressions, and ad fatigue is much lower compared to other display ads:



You’ll see even better conversion rates when you start to combine remarketing campaigns with additional targeting methods, such as targeting by demographics.

However, keep in mind that users have the option of opting out of seeing your retargeting ads by adjusting their settings in accordance with the AdChoices program.

Google Remarketing Costs

Your Google remarketing costs will vary depending on how your campaigns fit into your online marketing strategy as a whole. However, in general, Google remarketing ads are some of the most cost-effective ad campaigns available to online advertisers.

This will enable you to create highly targeted remarketing campaigns and increase your ad relevancy, showing most of your ads to the people who are most likely to click and convert.
